History

A dedicated digital marketing specialist since 1997, Bigmouthmedia is one of the world’s leading digital marketing agencies, working across the digital universe from SEO and PPC, through social media and on to affiliates, usability and display, including best-in-class tracking and analytics.

A fusion of bigmouthmedia Ltd and Global Media GmbH, which merged in 2006, the company became the largest independent search marketing agency in Europe. Responsible for the digital marketing strategies of many of the globe's best known brands across 64 countries, the firm's industry-leading expertise underpins a range of international marketing campaigns in over 30 languages.

With a team of over 200 staff located across a raft of international offices, today the company is the recipient of numerous industry awards and maximises exposure for major brands online through a variety of fully integrated digital marketing channels including Search engine optimisation (SEO), PPC, affiliate marketing, display and Online PR & Social Media. With annual turnover in excess of 140 million Euros, the agency has over 400 big-brand clients including British Airways, Tesco, Mexx, BT, Bupa, Europcar, Radisson, Belron and Chip.

In August 2010 bigmouthmedia merged with LBi to create Europe’s largest marketing and technology agency. The new combined agency combines LBi’s best in class digital media, marketing, communications, design, branding and technology services with bigmouthmedia’s leading search engine marketing product portfolio.

Executive Team

Lyndsay Menzies

Chief Executive Officer of bigmouthmedia and Chief Media Officer of LBi International N.V.

Lyndsay stepped into her new dual role after the merger with LBi, taking top-level control for the day-to-day management of bigmouthmedia’s offices in Europe. Her previous post as COO of bigmouthmedia saw her drive the company’s continued integration and the ongoing expansion of global operations during two very successful years.

Until 2008 Lyndsay served as Managing Director of bigmouthmedia UK, during which time she drove four consecutive years of exponential growth and saw the company named Britain’s fifth most rapidly growing firm in Deloitte’s Fast 50 Awards. Before taking up the role in 2004 she was the agency’s Operations Director, having joined in 1998. Prior to joining bigmouthmedia Lyndsay Menzies worked at Shell Exploration and Production. Lyndsay Menzies holds a B.Sc Hons Chemistry from Edinburgh University.

Phil Gripton

Managing Director, UK

A leading technology professional with over 17 years experience across a wide range of high-tech markets, Phil takes operational responsibility for bigmouthmedia's three UK locations, playing a key role in ensuring that the agency continues to deliver the level of performance and professionalism our clients have come to expect.

Formerly Director of the Partners business at Cable and Wireless, Phil brings a wealth of sales and general management experience to the table, and his track-record for running efficient, high-performance teams makes him a key player in bigmouthmedia's development.

Freddy Aursø

Managing Director, Scandics (Sweden and Norway)

A graduate from Stjørdal videregående skole and Sør-Trøndelag University College in Norway and the University of Newcastle in Australia, Freddy is passionate about digital marketing in the Nordics. Joining from VeiwStart A/S where he was Vice President Sales and Marketing Freddy heads up the Swedish and Norwegian bigmouthmedia offices as MD.

Outside of work Freddy is a lecturer at Norway's largest business school lecturing in International Business and has worked as a paramedic for the Royal Norwegian Army.

Chiara Zanetta

Managing Director, Italy

Prior to joining bigmouthmedia, Chiara worked in the Sales & Marketing sector in big international, Germany-based companies such as Robert Bosch GmbH in Stuttgart and BMW Motorrad in Munich. In 2004, Chiara joined bigmouthmedia in the Munich office and was appointed MD for Italy in 2006 upon the opening of the Milan office.

Chiara is a graduate in Communication Sciences at IULM University, Milan.

Michael Pean

Managing Director, France

Michael heads up bigmouthmedia’s operations in France, having joined the company's Munich office back in 2004. In 2007 he moved to Paris to open the French office and has been in the MD role ever since.

Prior to joining bigmouthmedia Michael worked for the Belgian general consulate in Munich, helping Belgian companies to develop their business operations in Germany.

Manuel Jurado

Managing Director, Spain

Based in Madrid, Manuel Jurado Gras is responsible for bringing the professionalism and expertise of bigmouthmedia to the Spanish digital marketing market. With over 4 years experience in the online marketing sector, Manuel has the knowledge and vision required to help clients define and align their online marketing strategy in order to ensure an outstanding ROI.

Previous to joining bigmouthmedia, Manuel was the country manager for Spain of the French digital agency NetBooster, taking the company from small start-up to established and profitable player in the search marketing sector.

Simon Heyes

Head of International Sales Operations

Simon joined bigmouthmedia back in 2003 in the role of Business Developer after gaining a degree in International Marketing and Management. He quickly moved up through the ranks in the UK and now heads up bigmouthmedia’s international sales operation, working with their local offices in Germany, France, Italy, Spain and Scandinavia. Simon has over 5 years of digital marketing experience, and his proactivity and innovative digital thinking has helped secure some of bigmouthmedia’s biggest clients.

A regular industry speaker on search and digital marketing, Simon’s remit now includes new business pitches, new product development and strategic selling.

Andrew Girdwood

Media Innovations Director

A committed digital marketing pioneer, Andrew is responsible for the development of the agency's search marketing strategies for major clients.

One of the best known experts in the UK search business, he is widely regarded as an industry thought-leader, speaking regularly on the latest technical developments hitting the sector. An internet evangelist, when not appearing at events such as SMX, Ad:tech, Internet World, SES and the Online Marketing Show Girdwood spends his time reading patent applications from search engines, monitoring digital innovators and analysing algorithmic trends.

Robin Richmond

Global Director of Media

A key team member within bigmouthmedia since 2004, Robin is widely regarded as one of the leading experts in integrated online marketing campaigns and has won several industry awards for his work on major global brands such as British Airways and Hilton. In his current role Robin ensures that the agency’s media offering is aligned across our global network of offices in terms of delivery, best practice and product offering. Particularly knowledgeable of the travel and online gaming sectors, Robin has held different roles within the organisation over the years and has worked with brands including Betfair, Sporting Bet, Eurostar, lastminute.com and Aer Lingus. Prior to his current position he was Head of Digital, heading up account management within the UK for SEO, PPC, display and affiliates.

Robin graduated in Marketing from Stirling University, before doing a post-grad in IT at the University of Aberdeen. He joined bigmouthmedia after having worked for a number of years as an online marketing consultant while playing poker professionally.

Steven Mallon

Group Head of Product

Although working largely behind the scenes, Steven is a key player in the design of bigmouthmedia’s services. Responsible for leading the development of bigmouthmedia’s future product and service enhancement drive throughout the business, Steven focuses on product innovation, business process improvement, financial tracking, resourcing, monetising and developing new initiatives and products.

Dedicated to ensuring our teams have the tools they need to work in our clients’ best interests, Steven’s client-side digital marketing experience means he knows what it takes to make campaigns tick.

Philanthropy

Bigmouthmedia actively encourages a keen sense of social responsibility, and the company supports a range of charitable initiatives worldwide.

Bigmouthmedia has for several years run a programme dedicated to supporting the Mathare Roots Youth Group, a non-governmental, non-religious, non-political, community based organization established by a group of young men and women from Kenya’s Mathare slums. Founded to have a positive impact on the young people living in the sprawling shanty town, the group is dedicated to improving the living and educational standards of local residents.

One of the group’s most important projects is a craft workshop where young people are taught how to produce a range of local products, with the finished goods then being sold to raise funds for the organisation’s activities. In an effort co-ordinated by staff from the Norway office, bigmouthmedia runs an online advertising campaign which generates a modest but crucial monthly income for the project, which the group uses to buy vital tools and materials.

Every interested member is allowed to participate in the workshop and if their artworks are purchased, they get a small proportion of the sale price with the rest going to support the group’s activities.

In the UK, Bigmouthmedia is also proud to support Bottletop, a charity funding dynamic education initiatives and projects aimed at improving the health and well-being of young people world-wide. The organisation gives people the opportunity to improve their own lives by learning skills and earning money, investing any profits back in to the community to ensure a longer lasting and more sustainable impact.

Around the world, employees are frequently involved in charitable activities. In the past year team members have participated in the Maggie’s Centre Monster Bike & Hike, run marathons in London, Paris & New York and completed a sponsored walk of the Great Wall of China as well as fundraising for Red Nose Day. Bigmouthmedia undertakes work for several well known charities including Comic Relief, Cancer Research UK and Macmillan Cancer Research. The company has also assisted the organisers of Make Poverty History and Live8 with their online campaigns.
