Americans still have trust issues

Not surprisingly, net use is up on last years figures but Americans still need more security reassurance

Americans Net user figures are up on last year but consumers are still uncomfortable with privacy issues.

The latest Consumer Internet Barometer produced by NFO WorldGroup, Forrester Research and the Conference Board indicates that 6 out of 10 Americans surf at least once a month.

A third of Americans go online every day, while 15 percent go online several times a week.

But trust is continuing to be an issue. Despite the fact that the percentage of online shoppers who trust that their personal information will be safe rose from 27 percent to 31 percent over the past year, only 21 percent of Internet users believe that online purchasing data transactions are secure.
