AOL's Truveo revamps video search service

AOL's Truveo revamps video search service AOL has announced that it has launched a new version of its video search engine Truveo.com.

The site has been rebuilt entirely and is based on the TruveoTM video search technology that AOL acquired when it bought the company last year.

Truveo.com is a site that allows customers to access a range of videos from across the internet including both user-generated clips and professional videos produced by high profile media brands.

Timothy Tuttle, chief executive officer and co-founder of Truveo and AOL Video, commented: "Over the past year, there has been an explosion in the amount of professionally produced video that's available on the web."

"While today's popular video sharing sites offer a wide variety of user-generated video, they rarely give users the opportunity to find professional, mainstream video."

The Truveo site solves this problem and provides a single point for finding a wide range of videos, he added.

According to the company, the site will allow customers to easily save and share links to their favourite videos, receive personalised recommendations for videos based on their preferences and configure custom video searches.

Truveo was established in 2004 and launched its first commercial video site a year later.

Following its acquisition by AOL in 2006, the company operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of the web services firm and today reaches an audience of millions.
