Apple continues its push as iPhone 4 is unveiled

Apple continues its push as iPhone 4 is unveiled At the Worldwide Developers Conference on Monday, held at the Moscone West Convention Centre, Steve Jobs unveiled his latest accomplishment, the iPhone 4.

Although many people had already snuck a peek at the new gizmo thanks to the lost and found iPhone prototype, the new revelation still inspired excitement in many techies and iPhone fans.

Unfortunately for tech guru Jobs, not everything went according to plan. Trying to demonstrate how websites images would be sharper, faster and altogether better, was met with a stumbling block when his new iPhone wouldn't connect to the Wifi network at the venue due to network congestion.

Slightly red-faced, Jobs decided to demonstrate the iPhone's video calling feature, but that feature also encountered difficulties - ironically possibly due to the flood of journalists in the room posting details of the new device over the Wifi network.

Even though the iPhone launch hit its share of glitches, the new-look and -feature iPhone seemed to meet or exceed the expectations of journalists and Apple fans in attendence.

According to Jobs, the iPhone 4 represents the 'biggest leap' the company has taken since the launch of the very first iPhone.

The new generation of iPhone incorporates multitasking abilities - or use of several applications at the same time - a new technology for the iPhone, though many competing devices already have this function. The company also revealed 'FaceTime', a front-facing camera which will allow iPhone owners to use the device for video conferencing with other iPhone and iChat users.

On top of that, the new iPhone's resolution will be superior to any of their previous models and other rival smart phones. Longer battery life; iBooks for Apple, which syncs with other iDevices; the ability to shoot HD video - Jobs rattled off a list of new features to salivating Mac enthusiasts.

As a possible swipe at Silicon Valley rivals Google, Jobs noted that the new iPhone would allow you to search the web using Bing and Yahoo as well as the leading search provider.
