Asynchronous tracking tag verification for Google Webmaster Tools

It seems Google is at it again, endeavouring to deliver the best possible experience for webmasters without whom there would be very little point in the business model they maintain.

Today, a routine venture into the Google Webmaster Tools interface resulted in the discovery of a new verification method that makes use of the asynchronous tracking code.

According to Google Webmaster Tools, ownership of a site may be verified provided you have the asynchronous tracking snippet present on the index page for a given site, and you have administrator access.

Google is also being careful to state that "no Analytics data will be accessed", allaying any potential fears that webmasters may have regarding data integrity.

So far there is no official statement from Google on this new verification method, however it is likely to be just a matter of time before it generates interest and is picked up for discussion across an array of webmaster forums.
