07 November 2006Bigmouthmedia takes home National Business Award
Called the 'business Oscars' by Chancellor of the Exchequer Gordon Brown, the National Business Awards ceremony recognizes the UK's top businesses in areas of management, innovation and overall competitive success. While many businesses were qualified to claim the various prestigious awards this year, a select few shone through with exquisite ingenuity and skill.
The National Business Awards, sponsored by Orange recognises and rewards excellence, innovation and success. Uniquely open to organisations of all sizes and from any industry sector - public or private, the programme allows the best of British businesses to showcase their achievements and benchmark their successes against firms and bodies of all types. The combined turnover of entrants this year was £366 billion with a profit of £32 billion while it represented 1.8 million UK employees and 250,000 personnel overseas.
The AXA Small to Medium Business of the Year Award, traditionally open to companies with a turnover of less than £10 million in their last financial year, is awarded based on showings of significant growth, innovation and strong financial performance within a particular market sector. Bigmouthmedia topped ten finalists to claim the prize, demonstrating excellent entrepreneurship and management skills, as well as the potential to further spread its wings within the industry.
Many will remember that the search marketing company also won an award in the same category - along with the 'Growth Strategy of the Year' award - at the Scottish National Business Awards in September 2006.
Olivier Marieé, the judge for AXA, commented:
"Bigmouthmedia is an outstanding business performer, consistently reliable and demonstrating growth. Among a field of excellent and high-achieving small and medium size businesses, bigmouthmedia marked itself out as a winner by its ability to handle different markets and cultures, securing sales in a competitive multi-national environment."
AXA's sponsorship of the National Business Awards demonstrates its conviction that training and development are vital to company success; it's therefore no surprise that as part of the award process, AXA will send bigmouthmedia on a three-day AXA Masterclass in France, where the company will have the opportunity to fine-tune its management and business skills.
Bigmouthmedia won the award against an array of other excellent finalists including BestThatQuote.com, Tyrells Potato Chips, Farmhouse Fayre and Telinet. Speaking after collecting the trophy, bigmouthmedia founder and CEO, Steve Leach said "What fantastic recognition of the hard work and excellence of my team over the past decade. That we were up against very stiff competition makes the win even more welcome. We're utterly over the moon."
Launched in Edinburgh in 1997, bigmouthmedia now has a team of 60 in its Edinburgh, London and New York offices. The media marketing agency currently runs internet search marketing campaigns in 20 languages, and excels in areas of site optimisation and online brand protection. Its impressive clientele include big names such as British Airways, Tesco, MTV, Sony PlayStation, Starbucks and the Hilton Hotel Corporation.
So it seems that bigmouthmedia has indeed 'struck again,' in representing the best of the UK's business realm. And, with the phenomenal rate at which the company is growing, its position in the limelight of the search marketing sector doesn't look like it will wane anytime soon.
Orange UK Vice President of Business Services Cynthia Gordon said: "All the winners of the National Business Awards demonstrate drive, passion and optimism for business. We are proud to be associated with such successful British business talent and congratulate all the winners on achieving this fantastic accolade."
