Web marketing and Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) specialist Bigmouth Media is opening its first European office in Barcelona as the first stage of a major expansion plan.
Managing director Steve Leach said the move into Spain was the first step in a wider programme that will see the company offer a multilingual service from locations across Europe and further afield.
He said: "We're already serving French Web sites from our UK operation, and we're opening offices in Milan at the end of September and in Scandinavia soon after that. Spain is really a stepping stone for us into Latin America and the Hispanic US market, which itself is huge."
Leach pointed out that, according to Forrester, 89% of new Web traffic comes via search engines. He also cited recent figures released by Nielsen//Net Ratings which suggest that this figure rises to 93% for Spanish-language sites.
He added: "The less evolved the market is, the heavier the reliance on search engines. Spanish-language sites currently account for only 4.5% of all Web sites, but they are the fastest growing section of the Internet."
Bigmouth Media, which is profitable and boasts clients including Interflora, MTV, BT and Miller Beer, claims it's the leading provider of multilingual SEO services.
This claim was boosted by the news that it has secured a new pan-European contract with Domainnames.com. The deal will see Bigmouth Media engage in in-depth market research and multilingual SEO to drive traffic to all the domain registration giant's sites across Europe.
