Branchr Advertising has launched a new ad network, offering a CPM model for billing for the first time.
Tech Crunch reports that the major advertising company's new CPMForest ad network aims to attract the sites that other CPM (cost per thousand) based networks typically reject - specifically those with low traffic. The network will permit all sites to use its services, regardless of their size, and has been designed with custom technology allowing it to effectively analyse websites and display contextually relevant ads from publishers.
The network's website states: "CPMForest allows you to place contextually targeted and relevant ads on your site, and be paid on a CPM basis. We analyze your site, to determine a keyword set, then we match ads from our large inventory, and our various partners inventories to display relevant ads on your website."
The site also explains: "CPMForest is currently open for website owners to place ads on their website, we're currently not open to new advertisers in our network."
The CPMForest network will be released in its full version to all advertisers at an unspecified date in 2010, and was launched today on limited release. Branchr is reportedly taking on a number of medium to large scale advertisers in anticipation of its network's full-scale launch, with CPM rates of between $0.10 and $3.50.
By offering a CPM based service, CPMForest is entering a crowded market and may be relying on its acceptance of low traffic sites as a major selling point against competitors such as Adagency1, Adpepper, AdSmart, Adtegrity and Banner Connect.
