Comic Relief RND 05 Campaign Bigmouthmedia and Comic Relief once again managed to make a big splash on the search engines, driving a record number of searchers directly to the official Red Nose Day 05 site.

With over 1.1 Million unique visitors, the site took over £4 Million was raised in web donations alone, more than double the amount ever processed through the site. So what does the client think of bigmouthmedia? Well, let's just say there's a whole lotta love coming from them...

This was the third Red Nose Day (RND) campaign that bigmouthmedia has optimised. Bigmouthmedia got involved at site planning stage to ensure maximum search compatibility for the new site due to be launched on 1st February.

lt was crucial for positive user experience to guide the searcher directly into the specific area of the RND site they were looking for. Bigmouthmedia's 100% best-practice approach ensured that the site was ethically coded, sufficiently content-rich, and fully navigable to maximise robust search engine exposure with particular focus on Google, Yahoo! and MSN Search.

It was crucial that searchers looking to register an event, buy accessories, learn more about Comic Relief projects - and of course to donate their hard-earned cash - could find the site easily via any keyword variation.

Listings had to clearly label the site as the official Red Nose Day site, findable through the more obvious 'Red Nose Day', 'Big Hair Day' and 'Comic Relief' keywords but also, to ensure permanence and continued traffic after the event, the campaign also had to encompass the more long-term, generic charity and online donation keywords.

Meta Data was compiled for each of the pages on the site based on the crucial keywords and embedded content. Old listings were migrated to the new site, and bigmouthmedia contacted the search engines directly to update older directory listings to fit with the RND'05 campaign feel and priorities.
The site took over £4 Million in online donations, more than doubling its own online record. It achieved over 200 number one listings within the main keyword targets plus numerous other keyword variations.

By ensuring deep-content inclusion on the search engines, the number of top 10 listings increased by 950%. Hitwise reported www.rednoseday.com as the top site within its category on March 11th 2005 and announced that the site held a 14.6% market share on RND 05 day, Friday March 11th.

98% of all brand and generic terms across the search engines featured in a top 5 position in Google, Yahoo!, MSN Search and the other major search engines for the duration of the campaign.
