Scrolling News Ticker, Pop-Up Ad Blocker and Cursor Search Put More Information at Users' Fingertips and Improve Web Browsing Experience
Dogpile (www.dogpile.com), the metasearch engine that makes it easy to search more of the Web, today announced the launch of an updated version of the Dogpile Search Toolbar with new features that provide users with added convenience and faster access to relevant and timely information. The new Toolbar installs in seconds and is immediately available for download at www.dogpile.com / toolbar.htm.
Once downloaded, the Dogpile Search Toolbar resides within a user's Web browser, and makes conducting Web and online directory searches faster and easier. The Toolbar offers access to Dogpile metasearch, which draws together the best results from the leading search engines, as well as comprehensive yellow and white pages, from any page on the Internet. The Toolbar also provides a variety of features that enhance users' overall Web search experience.
New Dogpile Search Toolbar features include:
- - Scrolling news ticker: This innovative feature scrolls the top headlines from ABCNEWS.com within a user's Web browser. Clicking on a headline immediately takes the user to the full story at ABCNEWS.com. The news ticker can be customized and turned on or off. Other content options are planned for the coming months.
- - Pop-up ad blocker: The pop-up ad blocker eliminates annoying pop-up ads while Web browsing. The blocker screens pop-ups to eliminate only those that are advertisements and users can configure it to allow pop-ups from certain sites. Users are notified whenever pop-ups are blocked with cursor and sound cues. The cues can be customized by the user and turned on or off.
- - Cursor search: With the cursor search feature, users can quickly conduct a Dogpile search on a word or phrase within any Web page by simply highlighting it and right-clicking their mouse.
"These new features provide Dogpile toolbar users with faster access to more relevant and timely information," said Leslie Grandy, vice president of product management, Search and Directory, at InfoSpace, Inc. "The scrolling news ticker makes up-to-the-minute information available whenever you use your Web browser. The ad-blocker and cursor search functions are designed to make accessing useful information on the Web as convenient and easy as possible."
These upgrades enhance the original Dogpile Search Toolbar feature set which includes:
- - Better Web search results: Dogpile's metasearch technology searches all of the Web's most popular engines, reaching as much as 50 percent more of the Web than any single engine and delivering only the best results. Dogpile offers a variety of tools to help users zero-in on relevant results.
- - People and business finder: Integration with the Web's leading yellow and white page listings makes it faster and easier to find people and businesses.
- - Public records: Provides easy access to a broad range of public information so users can research with confidence. Flexible subscription pricing broadens the appeal of in-depth searching.
- - Customization features: Includes the ability to set the default toolbar for either Web search, yellow pages or white pages, add or hide buttons, and customize button labels and layout.
- - Complete reference library: Includes easy access to other popular information sources including a dictionary, thesaurus, stock quotes, weather, maps and more.
