09 April 2003Fair Trading by Overture and Espotting?
The Office of Fair Trading is investigating
Overture and
Espotting, after
Espotting followed Overture's lead in a move to raise their minimum bid from 5p to 10p.
An initial complaint regarding Overture's price increase was dismissed by the OFT. However fresh complaints by the
search engine marketing sector have caught the OFT's attention.
Overture and Espotting deny collusion, claiming
PPC remains the cheapest type of targeted marketing.
The increase comes as no surprise to search engine marketing experts, who are long used to bidding up to £14 for highly competitive terms.
