Global Media checks in with Austrian Airlines

Manchester, England, August 2006 - Austrian Airlines has appointed Global Media Ltd, a worldwide leading web marketing service provider, to support the central parts of their online marketing strategy. The announcement sees Global Media become responsible for search engine optimisation and keyword advertising in seven countries for Austrian Airlines' website.

Austrian Airlines, a leading Central and Eastern Europe carrier, is expanding its presence by significantly increasing the number of tickets sold over the internet, and rapidly optimising its return on media investment (ROMI) in the process.

Global Media will be initiating web marketing campaigns for Austrian Airlines in Germany, Austria, UK, Switzerland, Belgium, France and Italy. In addition, the search engine marketing will encompass Spain and the Scandinavian countries of Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden.

The announcement reflects research from the German Association for Information Technology, Telecommunications and New Media and the Alliance of the Internet Travelling Sales that revealed that the ratio of online-booked trips in Germany had increased by 300 per cent since the year 2000. The association predicts that by 2015 every second German will book and make travel arrangements by internet.
