Go and EasyJet sign on the Dotted Line

PRESS RELEASE:

Today Go was bought by easyJet for £374m creating Europe's no 1 low cost airline.

easyJet is one of Europe's leading low cost airlines. Since its first flight in November 1995, the airline has grown from offering two UK routes from its base at London Luton Airport, to an airline flying 47 routes from 18 European destinations with a fleet of 35 Boeing 737 aircraft.

Since both Go and easyJet have very similar operations, we'll be able to keep costs low which will keep fares low. And by linking our two route networks, over time we'll be able to fly more people to more destinations, more often - and still at the lowest fares possible.

The combined airline will operate under the easyJet name. All Go flights will go ahead as planned up to 29 March 2003. Our international winter flights are already on sale and additional winter flights, including all UK domestic routes, will be on sale in the next few weeks.

Ed Winter, the chief operating officer at Go, will be overseeing the integration of the two companies, and until that is complete he will be Go's chief executive. He says: 'We're committed to creating the best low cost airline possible, using the combined experience from both Go and Easyjet. However, most of the changes will be behind the scenes at first, as our commitment is first and foremost to the customer and this requires a seamless transition.

'Once we have the plans in place, we will announce them and advise our customers of changes. But until then it's business as usual - which is low fares to some of the most popular destinations in Europe.'
