Google launches Ad Manager

Google launches Ad Manager Internet giant Google has released a new service that enables web site publishers to manage the placement of advertisements on their sites.

Called Ad Manager, the free tool is intended to allow publishers to sell advertising more quickly and to fill unsold slots on their sites.

It also generates performance reports detailing how effective particular ads are at reaching consumers.

In a statement, the search engine provider said: "Google Ad Manager is a hosted ad management solution that can help you sell, schedule, deliver and measure all of your directly sold and network-based inventory."

Google added that the tool's simple interface will cut down on training time, while its speed and reliability ensures quicker ad delivery and fewer reporting discrepancies.

According to the firm, the service has already been tested by a number of businesses and, once it is launched officially, it will be used predominantly by small to medium-sized organisations.

Commenting on Ad Manager, Erin Teare Martin, advertising manager for Infoplease.com - one of the firms involved in testing the service - said: "Using Google Ad Manager, the delivery rate of our ads has improved by ten to 15 per cent," BizReport states.

She added: "Before Google Ad Manager, we were maintaining two servers to keep ads running and they required ongoing maintenance. Since Google Ad Manager is a hosted solution, we have freed up those resources."
