Earlier this year,
Google AdWords announced it would be offering
improved support for Unicode characters.
AdWords can now better understand the meaning of Unicode characters, in a move to improve AdWords support across multiple languages.
AdWords publishers have long used Unicode symbols such as registered trademark (®) and copyright (©) within their ads, and this got us thinking. Big
mouthmedia thinks Google should take this to a new level and allow ancient hieroglyphics in
AdWords.
For those who didn't listen in history class (you know who you are), Wikipedia - our new digital tutor - tells us that hieroglyphics was a formal writing system used by the Ancient Egyptians that used a combination of logographic and alphabetic elements. To put it simply, the Ancient Egyptians used symbols to convey meanings.
Here are a few examples of modern 'hieroglyphics' we would love Google to allow. See if you can guess the AdText of each (answers below):

Imagine seeing those adverts in your Google search results.
We very much doubt these adverts would get past Google rigorous checks, but you never know...
Let's see what you can come up with.
AnswersBaxter's - Let soup warm your heart on a cloudy day
Ladbrokes - You can phone for horse racing bets day or night
British Airways - Cut your flight prices in half to the Egyptian pyramids
