Google came down on 'Bad Neighbourhoods' in an explicit attack on link farms and excessive reciprocal linking recently - is this the 'Crawl Sandbox'?

The word is official, Google came out with an explicit statement on bad linking practices not too long ago, and speculation is now rife that Google's 'Sandbox' approach could be a concept with a broader reach than previously supposed.

Reports are coming in that the post-bigdaddy crawl is going a lot shallower on a significant proportion of sites and that this phenomenon is directly linked to Google's recent insistence on no 'Bad Neighbourhoods' in their webmaster guidelines. This speculation comes in the wake of Google's other recent revelation that they are partially amalgamating their separate crawlers for separate services to pool their resources and cut down on the bandwidth drain on sites that are heavily crawled.

It's an evolving crawl method that is emerging and we here at bigmouth are keeping our eyes peeled for further indications in changes of pattern and frequency in the spiders' behaviour. Media reports of all kinds are interested in Google and Google's evolving vision for search - as should we all be.

Our big mouth will keep you posted.
