Google Chrome promoted to IE Google users

Google Chrome promoted to IE Google users Google Chrome is a browser that industry experts believe is Google's attempt to take a market share away from Microsoft's Internet Explorer and Mozilla's Firefox. Starting off with a bang, Google Chrome's pick-up rocketed into our Operating Systems and then shortly fizzled out only to retain a market share of a single digit figure.

Over the past two days, Internet Explorer users across the world accessing Google's homepage have been shown a promotional element enticing them to download Google Chrome.

Fiona Ramsay posted at Brand Republic that the promotion copy demonstrates: "minimal design with sophisticated technology," however, here at bigmouthmedia we're seeing "a faster way to browse the web." What will tomorrow bring - "better than Internet Explorer and Firefox"?

Sceptics would have us believe that this is a ploy from Google to try and take out Internet Explorer. Others may believe that, due to the limited promotional exposure - exclusively on Internet Explorer - Google may deem Internet Explorer as a lesser threat than Mozilla Firefox. Only Google can tell us that, but with our Google-vision goggles, Google seems hungry and out for blood.

Some would claim that Google's promotional style with Google Chrome is similarly aggressive to t of their T-Mobile G1 campaign.

Compete - the analytics masters - provided some serious stats when Google promoted the T-Mobile G1 mobile phone. They discovered that in seven days, over 800,000* unique visitors went to the T-Mobile G1 page. Looking back, Google's T-Mobile G1 link was not as heavily promoted as Google Chrome is today. Imagine the quick fire numbers Google can whisk away from Internet Explorer in one day, let alone a week.
