Google promotes Google Mail with easy message

Google Mail, as Gmail is known in the UK, had something of a shaky start to 2009 as shown by comScore's Media Metrix report for the United Kingdom.

Google promotes Google Mail with easy message

Now, in an effort to further push Google Mail, Google has created a series of videos to showcase how easy their email product is to use. The "5 ways Google Mail makes life easier" campaign uses five videos to make five key points.

In the first video Google showcases how Google Mail is able to create conversation chains, in the second the search engine illustrates that Gmail can be used even when the web browser is offline and the third video highlights Google's anti-spam features. In 2007 Google acquired the email security company Postini and has since continued to develop a large array of anti-spam technologies.

The last two videos show off Google Mail's ability to adopt attractive themes - colours and graphics which users can select for their inbox that may be more pleasant to look at than the corporate Google colours - and the email system's ability to support voice and video chat.

Voice chat is likely to be a reoccurring issue in 2010 as more Android devices, including Google's own Nexus One, surface and companies like ICQ line up against the newly independent Skype. Google itself is rumoured to be interested in buying AOL's ICQ.
