Google tops the mobile web hit list

Google tops the mobile web hit list Global search engine favourite Google has been named as the top mobile web site for smartphone users in the US and UK.

Research by M:Metrics revealed that Google's popularity shows no sign of waning, as it secured almost two-thirds of the mobile web market share in the States and just under a third of UK searches.

In total, Google claimed 62.48 per cent of the US mobile web market, with rivals Yahoo! and Microsoft the next closest companies, securing 33.54 per cent and 33.36 per cent respectively.

Other notable inclusions in the US mobile web top ten visited sites were Time Warner, News Corporation and eBay.

The search giant's dominance was less marked in the UK listings, where it achieved 30.94 per cent of searches, with Orange, the BBC and Microsoft hot on its heels.

Yahoo! also made the UK top ten, claiming 10.97 per cent of the British mobile web market.

Meanwhile, reports revealed that Google is also enjoying growing popularity in Korea, where it was recently hailed the most attractive foreign company.

According to a survey of over 2,000 jobseekers by Career, Google Korea landed top spot in the list of places people would most like to work for - receiving 11.5 per cent of the votes.

The main reason people wanted to work for the major internet firm was because of its corporate image, which was the motive cited by 38.4 per cent of respondents.
