Graduate Level Web Applications Developer(s) - Edinburgh
Level: Graduate1. SummaryThe role is responsible for performing maintenance tasks required to keep existing systems running as efficiently and as error free as possible, and making incremental changes to existing systems in response to day-to-day business demands under guidance from senior developers.
Graduate-level colleagues are expected to understand the time allocated for completion of their tasks and responsibilities and to escalate slippage as appropriate to managers.
Reports to: Software Maintenance Operations Manager; Director of Engineering and Research
Based at: LBi Bigmouthmedia, 51 Timberbush, Edinburgh
2. ResponsibilitiesThe applicant will be responsible for:
- Responding to bug reports and issues from users
- Investigating, isolating and fixing data and process issues
- Isolating and fixing bugs in existing code
- Making small, incremental changes to existing systems, under guidance from senior developers
- Regularly checking system health reports and raising and resolving issues accordingly
- Unit testing of own modifications and new code
- Creation and maintenance of user and developer documentation
- Training and supporting users
- Implementing configuration changes/additions, setting up users, reports etc.
- Adopting a flexible approach to completing workload to ensure delivery to priorities and timeframes agreed with managers
- Ensuring that solutions are implemented according to design and standards/best practices defined by senior staff
- Developing and applying knowledge of appropriate development technologies
- Ensuring knowledge of development technologies and digital marketing remain current
- Anticipating and reporting delivery issues associated with own deliverables to Project Manager or line manager
- Communicating professionally with colleagues across multiple offices and countries throughout LBi Group
- Providing 360° feedback for team members where appropriate as agreed with Project Manager
- Working proactively with Project Manager to ensure completion of projects
- Ensuring time is recorded appropriately and accurately
3. Qualifications and ExperienceDegree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or related/equivalent qualification
Although no previous commercial experience is required, though demonstration of previous commercial experience or internship would be highly beneficial, especially in an Agile based environment.
