10 June 2002Hollywood Hits Back At Film Piracy
Just 4 months after the successful 'closing-down' of a Taiwanese film rental site, a 'clone' site has popped up in Iran.
The MPA (Motion Picture Association) is threatening decisive action to have the Iranian site closed down.
The site offers access to thousands of films at $1 each.
Iran is among a number of countries which are not bound by international copyright agreements and have no diplomatic relations with the US.
The case looks likely to set a precedence in an area of Brand Protection that seems to be spiralling almost out of control.
