A new collaboration has been announced between microprocessor specialist Intel and search engine giant Google.The move will allow manufacturers and distributors of Intel Inside personal computers to purchase advertising from Google.
Intel Inside business partners will, according to a report from CNET, have access to both keyword advertising and online display ads.
According to the report, Intel is opening "a virtual marketing storefront for its thousands of channel and reseller licensees that will provide a single online site for planning and creating ad campaigns."
Google's role will be to provide "a suite of tools within that storefront that will help the users create and manage AdWords campaigns using things like pre-approved ad templates.
Intel is currently locked in a fierce struggle for market share with long-time rivals AMD>
Intel is currently engaged in a ferocious battle with bitter rivals AMD.
AMD has been put on the back foot after a recent resurgence by Intel saw it capture 80.5 per cent of the $30 billion processor market in the first quarter of 2007.
The statistics, released by JP Morgan and compiled by Mercury Research, show that AMD's market share fell by seven per cent during the same period, to 18.7 per cent.
The partnership with Google is the second announcement by Intel this week.
On Tuesday, the company said that it was to cut processor costs by as much as 40 per cent, in its effort to outmanoeuvre AMD.
