According to
Webmergers, the provider of research and services for buyers and sellers of Internet and technology properties, acquirers spent $12.7 billion to acquire nearly 650 Internet-related properties in the first half of 2002
Merger and acquisition spending increased 63% from Q1 to Q2 of this year, following several large e-commerce acquisitions.
Figures are still down on 2001 however. First half spending declined 43% from the $22.4 billion spent in the same period of 2001
Quantity of deals remained remained strong despite the decline in spending. The number of deals declined only 2% in the first half of 2002 compared with the first half of 2001
