The co-founder of Thomas Weisel Partners, Blake Jorgensen, has been appointed chief finance officer at Yahoo!Mr Jorgensen is set to begin working with Yahoo! on June 4th and will be replacing Susan Decker, who will move into a new role as head of the advertiser and publisher group.
He will take up his new role as a member of the company's executive team, overseeing finance and investor relations, reporting to Yahoo! chairman Terry Semel.
"Blake has a strong track record of building and running a successful investment banking franchise serving many clients in the internet and technology industries," said Semel.
"His broad financial, operating and strategic experience, which complements the deep financial expertise of our existing team, will make him a valuable addition to Yahoo!'s senior management."
He added that the appointment would help Yahoo! execute its growth plan and identify "emerging opportunities".
Mr Jorgensen co-founded Thomas Weisel in 1998 and acted as chief operating officer and co-director of investment banking.
He played an important role in managing the firm's financial relations with key investors and international partners.
"I couldn't be happier to be joining Yahoo! to help it achieve a new level of success as an internet leader," said Mr Jorgensen, who majored in economics at Stanford University and holds a masters of business administration from Harvard Business School.
Yahoo! recently announced it was to participate in the Deutsche Bank and Goldman Sachs investors conferences this month.
