Dell Computers may be taking steps to incorporate the forthcoming and much-hyped
Google Chrome operating system into future machines manufactured by the company, an executive for the tech giant's China and South Asia market indicated.
Speaking to Reuters concerning developments in the computer and smartphone sectors, president for Greater China and South Asia, Amit Midha, told reporters that the companies have a close working relationship concerning advancements in the desktop and laptop operating system, as well as mobile software.
"We have to have a point of view on the industry and technology direction two years, three years down the road, so we continuously work with Google on this," Midha said.
Google has set a tentative release of late Autumn 2010 for its Windows-challenging OS. The company could receive a significant boost for its system's success by partnering with another high-level manufacturer such as Dell, the second biggest seller of computers in the world, and Midha did not rule out the possibility of the collaboration.
"There are going to be unique innovations coming up in the marketplace in two, three years, with a new form of computing, we want to be on that forefront," Midha said.
"So with Chrome or Android or anything like that we want to be one of the leaders."
He added that though there were no fixed agreements with the search seraph, talks continue between the two companies.
Google's existing partners include Hewlett-Packard, Acer and Toshiba, among others.
