LookSmart.com Ties Up With About.com

Traditional directory search rivals, About.com and Looksmart.com have announced plans to display LookSmart results on the About portal.

Results will display below About's own editorial listings. In return, LookSmart has announced it will integrate About's directory listings into its own directory.

What remains unclear is how LookSmart will deal with this in line with its new Small Business Listings PPC model. The general opinion at Bigmouthmedia however, is that those listings imported from About.com will be treated the same way as the 'Grandfathered' listings that remain in LookSmart despite there being no payment made. Such listings were achieved back in the day before Pay-For-Review listings, whan people thouight they had to pray to the Gods Yahoo! & LookSmart hourly to get a listing...

We'll keep an eye on how it affects About.com listings.....
