Mobile dating site Skouts for romance offline

Mobile dating site Skouts for romance offline Skout, a social networking site that specialises in location-based mobile dating, is soon to be debuting a product that could see its members taking online dating offline.

The company aims to launch the service to be used alongside its current offerings to help singles connect whilst on the move. The project will see the arrival of interactive touch screens at 10,000 American locations, such as bars, clubs and restaurants.

Members of Skout can walk up to the 42 inch plasma screens and connect with singles close by. On half of the screen, their own status is displayed whilst the other half shows the profiles of singles currently in close proximity to the user. The user can then register their interest and contact other members - a process that tells the other person where you are, meaning they can come and meet you in person if they want to.

The project, which is called Skout OUT, means that singles will be able to meet others without having to plan any potentially awkward meet-ups beforehand. With Skout OUT, site members can meet others as and when they feel like it by logging into one of the touch screens.

Skout itself has seen some popularity as a mobile dating site and it is interesting to see that the company is now moving its services to the offline sphere - almost taking dating full circle, really. It's not quite back to being autonomous yet, however. At least with Skout OUT you'll know the lucky victim of your affections is single and looking before embarrassing yourself. He or she might even let you know they're interested too.
