More Major Sites Ditch Pop-ups

Pop-ups.....advertisers love 'em but more and more surfers are clicking that 'Top Right X Box' when they reach a site that serves them.

And now some major sites are listening to the gripes of their users and reducing pop-ups, or removing them altogether.

Women's portal, iVillage announced that it would no longer sell pop-up advertising space and that the only pop-ups that they would carry would be for in-house surveys.


Webcrawler, the Infospace-owned Search engine has announced that it is trialing the complete removal of pop-ups from its pages. This trial will be monitored and if it improves the stickiness of the site, will be continued thereafter.
