New mobile advertising system developed

New mobile advertising system developed Global Mobile Technology (GMT) has announced the filing of patents for a new technology that will enable internet advertising to be translated into mobile phones.

The system, called Push-It, would enable web providers to deliver text, images, sound or video with embedded advertising to mobile phones, allowing for a greater control of content and the style of the advertising.

Mobile phones will have to be IP-compatible, which will make Push-It available to about 1,000 devices, according to GMT.

Push-It will be specifically tailored to each mobile phone device, potentially making this new form of advertising available to two billion users.

Advertising will come embedded into any content requested by mobile phone users, and Push-It will also have "click through" and "call through" capabilities.

This means advertising will be available to mobile phone consumers even when they are not using their device's browser, targeting the phone's screen directly.

Push-It has been designed to arrive on user's screen with a ring alert, similar to that of a voice call.

The product is set to be released at the start of this year's third quarter.

For Jeff Harrison, CEO of GMT, Push-It's release will exponentially increase the opportunities for web advertisers: "We are introducing another dimension and value to the previously limited reach of mobile phone marketing," he said.

GMT will preview the product to web developers, advertisers, content providers and the press before the system's release.
