A survey of 5000 US workers carried out by Yahoo! HotJobs revealed that almost half hope to ditch their current job to find better employment, while two-thirds claimed they would switch jobs if the right opportunity came along.
Susan Vobejda, the Vice President of marketing at Yahoo! HotJobs says that employees jumping ship is a major risk factor for many of today's leading businesses.
"Organisations need to take this very seriously and build the pipeline by going after those who would be open to new opportunities in addition to those who are actively searching."
The reasons given for the desire of employees to leave their current jobs included disappointingly low bonus payments, lack of potential career growth and frequently having to work on days off.
Luckily, for these disgruntled workers, online jobsites make the task of finding that coveted dream job a whole lot easier, and Yahoo! HotJobs, along with Assessment.com, have come up with a new way to determine career progression and job satisfaction.
Job seekers visiting the Yahoo! HotJobs site can take an assessment quiz, answering questions such as, "How do you feel about your boss" and "When you wake up in the morning, how do you feel about going to work?" The tool then uses this information to offer tailored advice on possible employment options and future career paths. The assessment takes about 20 minutes and costs $39.95.
In the past, the thought of going through the daunting process of job hunting put many off the task. Instead, people would simply tolerate the job in which they were already employed. Tom Musbach, editor and career expert for Yahoo! HotJobs explained:
"One of the biggest obstacles for job seekers considering taking the next step is fear or apathy of the job search process. Our new assessment tool provides customised guidance and is a great place for them to easily get started."
Online recruitment sites like Yahoo! HotJobs have revolutionised the way potential employers and employees find each other, streamlining the job searching process and reducing the cost of finding staff. Yahoo! HotJobs allows job hunters to post an online resume and also gives advice on writing the perfect CV, developing interview technique and even offers a salary calculator.
