20 July 2004Online Ad Revenues in UK pass £350m
The online advertising market in the UK saw an increase in revenue by some 80% in 2003.
The current figures have fuelled predictions that the online ad market will surpass expenditure on radio advertising by 2007 according to a new report published by the Internet Advertising Bureau, (IAB).
Revenues from Internet advertising in 2003 accounted for 2.5% market share of overall advertising expenditure, topping the £350 million barrier up from £197 million in 2002. The demand for paid-for listings combined with the continued growth of the Internet and a steady influx in new web users was responsible for the growth levels, according to the IAB.
The IAB report follows a report published by the Advertising Authority earlier this month showing a 50% increase in Internet advertising spend so far this year and predicted exponential growth over the next year.(e-consultancy.com, July 21st 2004)
