People say a picture is worth a thousand words - and Google, the world's favourite search engine, must believe this too! Google have recently decided to add photos to Google Maps local search, enhancing the product service considerably.
You are now able to view a range of scenes on Google Maps and Google local listings, from beautiful beaches to extravagant hotel interiors. Users also have access to images of buildings, shop premises, signs and corporate logos. This new feature is a great addition to Google Maps and Google local listings. Search engine users who have never visited a particular location before can now find images of this location quickly and easily.
The benefits of this revolutionary update are massive. For example, put yourself in the shoes of a tourist looking for hotels in New York. Search for New York hotels in Google Maps and you'll be provided with a variety of listings. Once you've found the hotel of your choice, you'll be offered a range of options so you can view photos of hotel room interiors, look at images of the hotel's surroundings, read reviews from previous visitors and get directions to the hotel from your current location. You can even call the hotel free via the internet to make a reservation.
Through these modifications, it appears that Google have truly bit the bullet when it comes to perfecting the service offered by Google Maps.
More recently, BMW, one of the worlds leading car manufacturers teamed up with Google in Germany to allow users to send an address to their BMW car. The car will then prompt you to accept the address and it will act as a satellite navigation system to direct you to your destination.
The only downside of this is that the majority of these features are only available for US destinations and are not implemented across the world, so Google users in the UK and elsewhere may have to wait a while to enjoy this innovation to Google Maps.
