Press releases are found to be more popular than reported news

A study has revealed that press releases have taken over from trade journals as the reading of choice for knowledgeable workers seeking quality information for business purposes. The study was taken by Outsell Research, with surveys taken of 7,000 knowledge workers from between 2004 and now to find out how people in the know search for, and find, information.

Outsell's VP and analyst Roger Strouse says that press releases are more appealing because they are "shorter and pithier", "easier for people to get their hands on" and may be preferred because they are usually free to receive and "come right into an RSS feeder".

Press releases are usually shorter and straight to the point making them easier to read and pick out information from than lengthy journals, so people who want to find information for business purposes will find it easier by searching Google news to find the most relevant press release.

With quality press release sites being prominent features in Google News it means that press releases are the preferred method of businesses to share their information to the online public, as well as the best way for educated people and executives to find the best information that they want to find for business purposes.
