Scribd makes publishing more social

Scribd makes publishing more social Document sharing site Scribd is making a break for a more social sharing experience.

According to Scribd, the 'print' medium is on the brink of evolution and the next step is one that will enter the social sphere. The company, which also made a move into the ebook market earlier this year, hopes to stay one step ahead of the trend by releasing a series of new features to its sharing site.

Scribd recently introduced the first of these changes, which was the addition of social publishing pages. These pages allow users to instantly share their latest reads and posts with the Scribd community and are just the beginning of a number of other innovations set to grace the site over coming weeks.

One such feature is the new opportunity to follow favourite Scribblers. Followers of prominent users will be able to receive real time notifications whenever they publish new documents, create bookshelves or make announcements.

Scribd Recommends - a list of 100 prominent Scridb users (including bigmouthmedia) - has been created to encourage people to experiment with the new feature in preparation for the variety of other changes ahead for the document sharing site.

With an impressive ability to draw traffic, Scribd has enjoyed great success with scribblers the world over since its inception in 2006. Now ranking as one of the world's top 100 sites, all that now remains to be seen is just how social its users are.
