Teething problems at Yahoo?

In many ways it has been a flying start for the new Yahoo! search. The search results looked good and the engine is quick and easy to use. The "mine is bigger than yours!" tit-for-tat battle took an interesting and notable sidestep away from index comparisons when Yahoo revealed their page cache was just about five times larger than Google's.

In some quarters search engine industry experts were revising their estimates on exactly how long it would take Yahoo! to really give Google a run for the money. Other search engine optimisation experts allowed themselves smug smiles and a "told you so".

Despite the impressive start it hasn't been entirely clear sailing for Yahoo! The Yahoo.co.uk results are still on the old database. Yahoo! UK lagging behind is especially interesting for search engine marketers looking at paid placement and at the Site Match and Site Match Xchange services which have superseded the old Inktomi services. But that's getting technical. What about a clear illustration of teething troubles at the search engine such as a failed search?
