T-Mobile unveils new Windows mobile

T-Mobile unveils new Windows mobile T-Mobile USA has unveiled details of its forthcoming Shadow phone, a slide device that uses the Microsoft Windows Mobile 6 platform.

Regarded by some as a potential competitor for the iPhone, the T-Mobile Shadow is set to be launched in the US on October 31st and features a hybrid keypad, a spin navigation wheel, a 2.6-inch screen and a two-megapixel camera with video capabilities.

The device offers Wi-Fi and Edge-enabled high-speed web access and a myFaves service that allows users to call, send an email, text or instant message and share a picture, video or voice message with one click.

It also provides a reminder service and the T-Mobile Address Book, which can import contacts from email applications such as Yahoo!, Gmail and Microsoft Outlook via my.t-mobile.com. The address book is also automatically backed up online.

"Shadow finally makes staying connected to people simple, fun and easy - and all without the hassle of using a complicated device," commented Robert Dotson, president and chief executive of T-Mobile USA.

"This is not a productivity tool. This phone is designed for people who have lives beyond work."

The Microsoft Windows Mobile 6 platform allows users to manage email, calendar and phonebook functions, as well as search for business listings, maps and directions. It also enables users to access corporate networks and find data and documents that are stored on file shares and SharePoint websites.
