[Press Release]
The UK's Second Largest Local Search Engine by Index Size Goes on Sale at eBay. UKWizz (www.ukwizz.co.uk), launched 18 months ago as a UK centric local search engine and one of the few search engines left in the UK that still uses its own database, has been offered for sale on eBay.
The site, created by Alistair McIntyre, started as a hobby project and now indexes more than 13 million UK Web pages.
"The aim was to develop a search service that offered UK web users with a search experience that was tailored to their needs by delivering results that where both relevant and specific to the average UK internet user," said McIntyre.
As well as offering a large-scale Web search index, UKWizz also includes a local directory of UK sites arranged by category and a news search, allowing its users to search the top UK news sources from one location.
UKWizz currently handles about 2,000 search queries per day, with potential to expand by increasing its index size.
"The ultimate buyer of UKWizz will gain the existing brand, software and all the hardware required to run the operation and expand it," added McIntyre.
About UKWizz
Unlike the many search engines that use data from third party providers known as meta-search engines, UKWizz is different. UKWizz uses its own unique dataset built on scalable technology.
UKWizz filters Websites that it indexes to ensure the database is as UK centric as possible.
UKWizz is currently being offered for sale on the eBay auction Website.
