Vodafone and MTV are joining forces to launch a multi-platform music programme which will feature online, on TV and on mobile. The programme, called Vodafone Soundbites, will be broadcast as a series of 21 3 minute shows which will be available in 29 countries including Germany, Spain, Australia, the UK and Ireland. The show will give music lovers 'behind the scenes' access to their favourite bands, featuring interviews with artists backstage at gigs and festivals revealing details about pre-show rituals, their first time on stage, and their fantasy group line-ups. The website will also feature additional footage of the artists along with editorial and news content. Each Vodafone Soundbites show will air 4 times in each territory on TV and will also be supported by an MTV created promotional spot.
David Wheldon, Global Brand Director at Vodafone has described Vodafone Soundbites as a pioneering multiplatform communications show which "will allow millions of fans to experience music on mobile through Vodafone and its partners' high speed, reliable networks, online and TV".
Vodafone and MTV have also recently teamed up to launch an online interactive profile hosted by MySpace called Vodafone Music Reporter which allows users to upload content to the platform and create communities. The platform also features shared content from Vodafone including pictures and videos related to its Music Unlimited events. As a tie-in with Vodafone Soundbites, the Vodafone Music Reporter profile also offers music fans in a few countries the chance to become an MTV reporter and appear in a Vodafone Soundbites episode that will feature online and on mobile.
