Yahoo Deny Free Submit To Commercial Users

Businesses can no longer submit their sites to Yahoo UK via the free submit option.

Instead, business users are forced to pay for inclusion if they wish to be listed by Yahoo. The Yahoo paid inclusion program is called Yahoo Express.

Yahoo states on its site, "...businesses submitting new sites to certain commercial directory categories are required to use Yahoo! Express"

Submissions to other (non-commercial) categories may still use the free submission option, or might choose to pay for Yahoo Express.

Over the past eighteen months or so it had been considered that the wait for free submission justified payment for the relatively fast Express service (some users had to wait six months or more for review with the free option, whereas Express offered review within seven days).

The change in the guidelines will have little effect on submission rates as most business have been paying for the Express service in recent months anyway.
