YouTube Hot Spots spots what's hot

Earlier this year, YouTube introduced a new feature called YouTube Insight, a free tool that allows anybody with an account on the popular video site to view statistics about their uploaded videos. Statistics available include such fields as; how their video is viewed geographically, as well as how it's faring in regards to other videos with similar subject matter.

Now YouTube has taken its statistical examination a step further and is enabling users to view an in-depth, second by second analysis, whereby video creators will be able to determine which parts of their video are more likely to make a viewer watch again - and which parts are more likely to make them switch off.

Placing an animated graph beside the video within the YouTube Insight control panel, YouTube will show video uploaders the 'hot' and 'cold' parts of their video by having a line follow the trend of the graph as the video plays, demonstrating the points where more users are tuning in, the parts they play again, and the bits that make them leave, pronto.

What's going to be incredibly handy about Hot Spots is not just learning which bits of your creations are hot or not - it'll meant that video owners can consider how to make better videos in the future. By discovering what parts viewers like, creators can isolate said points and customise existing videos to adhere to popular demand or, alternatively, make a new creation entirely based on what viewers like best.

There won't be any guessing games for YouTube video uploaders any more as they struggle to discern which parts of their videos people like - it'll all be laid out for them in an easy-to-understand graph.

Which means we'll know exactly which parts of our bigmouthmedia videos you viewers love the most.
