In January 2005 Google announced new rules to limit the number of
AdWords for the same page which would appear for any one search. The move was designed to help control the vast numbers of affiliate
pay-per-click bids.
Before this control affiliates would often bid on wildly broad terms and this would sometimes produce
unintentionally funny adverts. Rather than loose these search funnies bigmouthmedia has captured a few in screen shots and recorded
them below for posterity!

Prices that hurt? Oh dear! Clearly a marketing mastermind at work here.

We see it now; you're really stuck for an idea for a Christmas present, frantically searching the web for anything, anything at all... and
then you find this! Perfect! Ooh, and healthy too!

Why bother making an effort to look smart and remember your manners? No need to buy flowers, chocolates or even glasses of wine at the pub.
No. If you're looking to share your life with someone then pop online and hit the search engines.

Give me some time to think about this... you want to take my money and give me your old rope. Money for old rope? You've got yourself a deal!

Forget the Da Vinci Code. If you want to find rare religious icons then it's a breeze with modern search technology! Alleluia!

And you thought flying pigs were rare! They're so common that search engine adverts compete against one another to sell them.
We can stick with the farm theme for a while and pause to reflect this AdSense mismatch. Mind you, this contextual advert appeared on a strange page in the first place. Only The Register would find space amongst its hardware, software and IT news stories for an article about cows bearing grudges.
Cows are odd enough but the Google creation of a Cow Horse is exeptionally rare! Where did the horse come from? There's no mention of horses at all in the article but there are references to animals and farms. Ah... just sometimes these ad funnies give you a glimpse behind the curtains and an insight into the great Google mindset. We think a cow horse is worth a few bob or two, it's certainly not something the Jones will have.

Ah yes... we would come to this, wouldn't we? Perhaps with all the dangers of tripping over keyword matches and targeting budgets at blackholes it comes as no surprise that some people panic. Selling unsuccessful AdWords isn't likely to recoup losses, try using professional commercial search management instead.
We know there are better, even funnier, search funnies out there. If you find one then you're warmly invited to screen grab and send
the image to bigmouthmedia tech. The best search funny finds will be
added to this 'memorial page'. Bonus kudos awarded for AdSense funnies!
